BUA

A quartet comprised of some of America’s most talented young musicians, Bua plays Irish traditional music with “a precision and intensity that is rarely heard on this side of the Atlantic.” Their sound stands out among modern bands in the genre by “keeping the music down the path of tradition” and reminding listeners of such fondly-remembered greats as The Bothy Band and Planxty. Critics write that Bua’s 2009 release, An Spealadóir, “features all that is really good about traditional music.” It is no surprise that Bua, taking their name from the Irish Gaelic word for victory, have quickly risen to be one of America’s premier traditional Irish music ensembles.
Here's a house concert performance from Feb. 2011 showcasing Brian Ó hAirt's lovely sean nos Irish singing. Video's a bit dark, but the sound is very nice.
