EAST VIEW POINT
Shakar Parian Hills are situated near Zero Point, up above the Loke Virsa Museum & Rose & Jasmine Garden. From here you can view the twin cities of Islamabad & Rawalpindi very clearly. Hills have two View Points. East View Point & West View Point.
East View Point:
The older & more visited picnic spot is East View Point where there is a terrace surrounded by a park with a fountain. Jinnah Stadium, Rawal Lake & neighboring hills of Margalla and Murree can be easily viewd from here.
There is a small garden of Pine Trees near the terrace. Speciality of this garden is that all trees have been planted by country heads (Kings/Presidents/Prime Ministers) of friend countries. It is a tradition that whenever a foriegn president or prime minister visits pakistan he/she plants a tree at Shakar Parian which is a symbol of friendship between the countries.
There is a monument/foundation memerial on East View point where Islamabad City's Master Plan was approved by that time's President His Excelency Mr. Ayub Khan in 24 May 1960.
West View Point:
Pakistan Monument is built on West View Point. Also you can view Islamabad's sky line from West View Point.

NATIONAL MONUMENT, ISLAMABAD
National Monument or Pakistan Monument is built on the West View Point of Shakar Parrian Hills. The monument can be viewd from all vantage points of the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. It is designed by an eminent architect Mr. Arif Masoud, completed in March 2007. There is a nice setup of fountains in front of monument and there are several patches of lush green grass around the Monument.
The Monument has been designed to reflect the culture and civilization of the country and also depicts the story of Pakistan Movement and it is dedicated to the people of Pakistan who sacrificed their today for a better tomorrow. The four main petals of the blooming flower like monument represent the four provinces while the three smaller petals represent three territories of Pakistan.
It give a beautiful view at night. City view is magnificent form the hills at night.

Shakarparian hills near Zero Point 1,998 feet (609 m) above sea level ia famous picnic of Islamabad. It has a terraced garden that offers pleasant views of margalla and murree hills, rawal lake, Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Many heads of state plants trees in Shakarparian's garden on their trip to Pakistan. You can check them out with the names of person who planted them. Also there are snack bars in case you wanna have some thing to eat.

A Memorable trip to SHAKER PARRIAN PARK....
East and West Viewpoints in Shakarparian Park, on a low hill between Islamabad and Rawalpindi, offer the most photogenic view of Islamabad and the Margalla Hills behind. You can get there either from the road to the airport, about one kilometre (half a mile) from Zero Point, or by turning south at the traffic lights at Aabpara Market. East Viewpoint overlooks Islamabad and has a charming sunken garden laid out as a city plan and bounded by trimmed hedges representing the Margalla Hills.West Viewpoint overlooks Rawalpindi. Paved paths wind through the gardens and past fountains and young trees planted by visiting statesment. An interesting round trip combines a tour of Shakarparian Park with a visit to Lok Virsa, the Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage. Enter from the airport road and drive about 500 metres (yards) down a twisting avenue lined with jasmine. On the right is Lok Virsa, with its open-air exhibition of carved wooden doors in the garden, and a large indoor exhibition of local an, handicrafts and musical instruments from different regions of Pakistan. It also has a research library with microfilm facilities and a recording studio where Pakistan folk traditions are preserved. It is closed on Mondays. During my visit I've seen so many me morable trees planted there by the former rulers from all around the world & still the tradition is on.....

Shakarparian hills are situated near Zero Point, at a height of 1,998 feet (609 m) above sea level.
It is a terraced garden that offers pleasant views of Margalla, Murree hills, Rawal Lake, Rawalpindi and Islamabad. There are small food stalls offering snacks for visitors.
Many heads of state planted trees in Shakarparian's garden. You can check them out with their names. Also a project of chairlift from Shakar Pariyan to Daman-e-Koh is expected to start soon. It would for sure attract more tourists in future to this beautiful place.
